Honey Oat Dog Treats

In honor of my niece, Ellie, staying the week with me, I thought I’d post a dog treat recipe. (My niece is a sheltie in case you didn’t follow my thought process there.) It’s super easy and fast to make, and the dogs I’ve given them to have all loved it! The recipe is based on this one.

Ingredients:
3/4 cup flour
1 egg
2 TBSP honey
2 tsp peanut butter

1/4 cup shortening
1 tsp baking soda

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup oatmeal

1/2 tsp vanilla

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Warm the peanut butter and honey in the microwave. Add the remaining ingredients. Mix well. Roll the dough into balls and put on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes.

One note, the treats do not have preservatives in them, so if you won’t use them up quickly, freeze some so they don’t go bad/get moldy!

And just because I mentioned Ellie, here’s a picture of her being all cute and smiling! She’s a beautiful dog, huh?
